Reason In Madness

That movie 23

So i have yet to see that movie, but the concept as far as i know is that when you look for repeating patterns, out there in the world, you will likely find them. Any who just the other day i was walking down the street (in Victoria) and passed a woman walking a rambunctious Lassie dog. It stood out in my mind only because the dog was super excited, playfully bounding about in a government mantained garden in front of the hospital. So the seed was planted, i continued my walk and in about three blocks came across a lost dog posted stapled to a telaphone pole, no doubt it was a rough collie. Once i got to my destination I went out for a run and saw a couple walking to young rough collies. On an ordinary day or even week i dont thing i would come across one of these dogs, perhaps there are just more peeps in Vic that have these dogs (i could see that seeing as they are kind of classicaly posh dogs). Non the less this did stand out and get me thinking about this idea of repeating patterns one can find if looking conshusly or subconsciously.

Another example, (more of a coincidence/encounter) I was searching about on the net for cheap ways of traveling, through this site I was linked to some other site about how you can travel on cargo ships. It seems like an interesting idea, apparently it’s not super cheap $80-$120 a day is what this site said to manage for (meals were included and you would often get tours of the ship and what not). To me this experience seems much more rewarding then floating on an all inclusive Cruz with a bunch o fat headed and Americans. I will swing back to my point, but first let me also include an article i read about a free lance illustrator, we’ll call him “Jim”. Jim decided that he wanted to travel the world for a year, wile working, he also wanted to avoid taking planes so that he would experience more on the travel as opposed to flying straight to a destination. Any ways Jim worked out a deal with one of these cargo ships and hopped a ride across the Atlantic Ocean, wile using a satellite internet connection to keep contact with his clients. So back to the topic at hand, I had read that article before coming across this “travel on cargo ships” web link but the idea was first planted though the previously mentioned magazine article. After having reading the web link about traveling on cargo ships, i went for lunch, taking a walk to a park close by. I was sittin in the shade of a tree watching some tourists taking pics of them selves sitting on benches. The thought crossed my mind of were they were from were they were going and so forth, not paying much mind to it other then that. When it came time to leave i chose i different rout then i normally walk. I was in my own world, plugged into my ipod, when one of these tourist dudes popped out in front of me on the side walk waving his arms trying to get my gapped out attention. I removed the ear buds and was confronted with a question, “were can we go to find a good disco tec?”. It was the middle of the day, and i was at a lose for a good recommendation. I told them of a good out door patio were they could have a beer (Chill Winstons), it was in the same direction as i was going so we all walked together. I found out that they were in town for a matter of a few hours then would be heading to China, turns out they work on a cargo ship! I got to chat them up for a bit, four of the boys were from India, and the other two older guys were from the  Philippine. Sounded as if they would spend alot of time inside the ship and not seeing whats going on out side so much. I asked them about tourest hitching a ride on the boat, at fist the younger boys said it was not possible, but the older guy said it was, you just have to conferm every thing through the company before hand. Seems like an excting way to travel non the less, ill have to keep this stored in my memory banks for future traveling adventures.

Any who perhaps i should check out that movie “23” with Jim Carry and see if its any good. Any one out there see it or recommend it, ive heard mixed reviews.

I have some friends that went to Europe and back on a cargo ship. They were sick the whole way. Food consisted almost eniterly of cold cuts and other meats.

WOW that sounds pretty good to me!
Was it reasonably priced at least?

I think it was reasonable, but I could enquire further. Their main reason for going that route was environmental. Boycotting planes and such.
